EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a remarkable painting titled "Sergeant, 92nd Highlanders, 1816 circa". Created by an unknown artist in the 19th century, this oil on canvas masterpiece is housed at the National Army Museum in London. The portrait depicts a distinguished sergeant from the renowned 92nd Regiment of Foot. Adorned in a vibrant red jacket with striking yellow facings and silver lace, he exudes an air of authority and valor. A red and yellow sash completes his impressive attire. Notably, this sergeant had participated in significant battles such as Quatre Bras and Waterloo under the command of Lieutenant-General Sir Thomas Picton's division. As evidence of his bravery and service, he proudly wears his Waterloo Medal—a prestigious honor bestowed upon those who fought at Waterloo, Ligny, and Quatre Bras. Non-commissioned officer portraits from this era are exceedingly rare; thus, it is unfortunate that little information about this particular sergeant has been preserved throughout history. Nevertheless, through this exceptional artwork captured by Bridgeman Images for Fine Art Finder's collection, we can appreciate the dedication and sacrifice displayed by soldiers like him during their time serving their country.
