Notting Hill fire station (A10) was built in 1868 by the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB), located at 83 Ladbroke Road. The year previous to this station opening (1867) escape ladders were put under the control of the MFB, taking over the role from the Royal Society for the Preservation of Life from Fire. Here the escape ladder can be seen by the Fire lantern, although the MFB now carried these ladders on horse drawn escape carts. The station closed in 1915 and was converted to a private residence
