HM Submarine Trump (P333) - A Symbol of British Naval Power in the 1940s This photograph showcases HM Submarine Trump (P333), a British T-class submarine built by Vickers Armstrong, Barrow, and launched in March 1944. Trump served valiantly during World War II and, following the conflict, underwent a significant transformation known as the 'Slippery T' or 'Super T' conversion. In this post-war modernization, the deck gun was removed, and the conning tower was replaced with a streamlined fin (as depicted in the image). This conversion aimed to enhance the submarine's underwater performance, making it more elusive and effective in its role as a naval asset. Trump, pennant number P333, was one of several T-class submarines to undergo this conversion. Her sleek new appearance, characterized by the streamlined fin, set her apart from her earlier iteration. Despite her impressive history and advanced design, Trump was eventually decommissioned and sold for scrap in August 1971. This photograph, taken circa 1947, offers a glimpse into the history of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet during the 1940s. The era of the '40s, with its unique blend of innovation and necessity, is captured in this image of HM Submarine Trump (P333) – a symbol of British naval power and engineering prowess.
