EDITORS COMMENTS
In this elegant and captivating photograph, taken circa 1904, we find six princesses of Luxembourg gathered together in a beautiful line, each wearing stunning white dresses that exude an air of grace and refinement. From right to left, we have Marie-Adelaide, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, Charlotte, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, Hilda, Princess of Schwarzenberg, Antoinette, Crown Princess of Bavaria, Elisabeth, Princess Ludwig Philipp of Thurn and Taxis, and Sophie, Princess Ernst Heinrich of Saxony. Marie-Adelaide, the eldest of the princesses, was born in 1864 and became Grand Duchess of Luxembourg upon her marriage to Grand Duke Adolphe in 1893. Charlotte, her younger sister, was born in 1894 and succeeded her sister as Grand Duchess of Luxembourg in 1919. Hilda, born in 1865, was the daughter of Prince Felix of Luxembourg and became Princess of Schwarzenberg upon her marriage to Prince Felix of Schwarzenberg in 1885. Antoinette, born in 1875, was the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria and became Crown Princess of Bavaria upon her marriage to Crown Prince Rupprecht in 1896. Elisabeth, born in 1873, was the daughter of Prince Albert of Thurn and Taxis and became Princess Ludwig Philipp of Thurn and Taxis upon her marriage to Prince Ludwig Philipp in 1893. Sophie, the youngest of the princesses, was born in 1874 and became Princess Ernst Heinrich of Saxony upon her marriage to Ernst Heinrich, Duke of Saxe-Altenburg, in 1896. This photograph captures a moment in time when these six princesses, all related by blood or marriage to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, came together in their beautiful white dresses to celebrate their royal lineage and the bonds that united them. The image is a testament to the rich history and traditions of the Luxembourg royal family and the European monarchies of the early 20th century.
