Born on February 12, 1746, Sir Roger Curtis entered the Royal Navy at a young age and quickly distinguished himself through his bravery and leadership. He served under Admiral Sir Edward Hawke during the Battle of Quiberon Bay in 1759, a pivotal moment in the Seven Years' War. Curtis's impressive performance during this battle marked the beginning of his meteoric rise in the navy. Throughout his career, Sir Roger Curtis took part in numerous battles and campaigns, including the Battle of Ushant in 1778 and the Battle of the Saintes in 1782. He was knighted in 1782 for his services to the navy and was appointed a rear-admiral in 1793. In 1805, he was promoted to vice-admiral, and finally, in 1811, he became an admiral. Despite his impressive accomplishments, Sir Roger Curtis's life was cut short when he passed away on January 22, 1816.
