Mrs. Shutt, 69, is one of Mr. Martins out-workers. He employs twelve people in the town who work for him in their own homes. Mrs. Shutt has been working on chain mail since she was twelve. During the Boer War she made chain guards, which went round the engines to stop the sparks from flying up.
