However, as she grew older it became apparent that she couldn t play the little girl for much longer. She worked with her father on a couple of films, one of which " The Chalk Garden" (1964) earnt critical acclaim. However, she destroyed her previous innocent image with a nude scene in the film " The Family Way" (1966) and with her marriage to the director Roy Boulting, who was many years her senior. This print captures a young Hayley Mills at the British Film Academy Awards in 1962. At just 16 years old, she was already making waves in the film industry and had become a beloved star of Disney studios. The daughter of renowned British actor John Mills, Hayley first gained attention for her role in "So Well Remembered" (1948). However, it was her performance in the 1960 film "Pollyanna" that truly launched her into stardom, earning her a special Oscar. While not all of Hayley's subsequent films achieved the same level of success as "Pollyanna" she did have another hit with "The Parent Trap". The film's theme song even made its way onto record charts. As she grew older, it became clear that Hayley couldn't continue playing child roles indefinitely. She collaborated with her father on several films, including the critically acclaimed "The Chalk Garden" (1964). However, Hayley shocked audiences by shedding her innocent image with a nude scene in "The Family Way" (1966) and marrying director Roy Boulting, who was much older than her. Eventually retiring from film in the seventies, she turned to television for new opportunities. This print is a nostalgic reminder of an iconic actress whose talent and charm captivated audiences around the world during Hollywood's golden era.
