Artwork of a spinosaurus dinosaur F006 / 9713

Spinosaurus (meaning spine lizard ) was arguably the largest known meat-eating dinosaur. It was longer even than Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus at, according to one estimate, up to 18m in length. Named for the elongated spinal bones that make up the curious sail on its back, spinosaurus was probably a fish-eater. Its head was narrow like that of a crocodile and, like that animal, might have spent its life on land and in water. It lived towards the end of the Cretaceous period, in what is now northern Africa

EDITORS COMMENTS
This artwork print showcases the majestic Spinosaurus, a dinosaur known for its immense size and unique features. With an estimated length of up to 18 meters, it surpasses even the renowned Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus in terms of sheer magnitude. Aptly named after its elongated spinal bones that form a remarkable sail on its back, this fascinating creature is believed to have been primarily a fish-eater. The narrow head resembling that of a crocodile suggests that the Spinosaurus may have inhabited both land and water throughout its life. Thriving during the late Cretaceous period in what is now northern Africa, this predator roamed ancient landscapes with unparalleled dominance. In this stunning illustration against a pristine white background, every intricate detail comes to life. The artist's skillful depiction captures the essence of this prehistoric reptile theropod perfectly - from its fearsome jaws to its powerful limbs. This artwork transports us back in time, allowing us to marvel at the wonders of Earth's distant past. As we gaze upon this mesmerizing print by Mark Garlick from Science Photo Library, we are reminded of our planet's rich history and diverse fauna. It serves as a testament to humanity's insatiable curiosity about these magnificent creatures who once ruled our world but now exist only as fossils waiting patiently for discovery by paleontologists eager to unravel their secrets.
