Swedish Film Actress Greta Garbo - Torrent, 1926
Greta Garbo (1905-1990) - Swedish Film Actress and Movie Star. Garbo was born in Stockholm and was spotted whilst studying at the Royal Theatre Dramatic School by the Swedish director Mauritz Stiller. Her first Hollywood film was The Temptress in 1926. Amongst her other successes are, Queen Christie (1930), Anna Karenina (1935) and Ninotchka (1939). She retired from films in 1941, after receiving poor reviews for Two-Faced Woman. She spent the rest of her life living as a recluse in New York. This card shows Garbo in Torrent (1926) her first American film. Date: 1926
