EDITORS COMMENTS
This print by Chris McEvoy showcases the iconic Austin 7 YW 1699, a true symbol of British automotive heritage. The image was captured during the Centenary Celebration at Goodwood Revival in September 2022, held at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit in Chichester, West Sussex, England. The Austin 7 holds a special place in motoring history as it was introduced in July 1922 as an affordable family car. Its official designation "7" represented its horsepower rating and allowed it to fall into a low tax category. However, through clever engineering, this little powerhouse soon exceeded expectations with its actual power reaching close to an impressive 10.5hp from its four-cylinder engine boasting a capacity of just 747cc (45.6 cu in). The Duke of Richmond's estate provides the perfect backdrop for this nostalgic event that celebrates historic cars and their enduring appeal. Chris McEvoy's expertly composed photograph captures not only the speed and excitement of racing but also pays homage to these iconic vehicles that have become symbols of retro style and timeless design. This print is a must-have for any enthusiast who appreciates classic automobiles and seeks to preserve their legacy for generations to come.
