Arthur Wilton Brown (born 24 June 1942) is an English rock singer and songwriter best known for his flamboyant and theatrical performances, eclectic (and sometimes experimental) work and his powerful, wide-ranging operatic voice, in particular his high pitched banshee screams. He was also notable for his unique stage persona such as extreme facepaint and burning helmet.
He is best known for The Crazy World of Arthur Browns 1968 single " Fire", reaching number one in the UK Singles Chart.
The Reading Festival of 1971 took place on Friday 25th June, Saturday 26th June and Sunday 27th June.
