Cap badge, other ranks, East Surrey Regiment, 1914 (c).An eight-pointed rayed and faceted star, the topmost point of which is displaced by a monarchial crown. At the centre, a shield bearing the Arms of Guilford, viz: a castle with two towers embattled, on each tower a spire; from the battlements of the castle rising a tower triple-towered, the whole between two woolpacks in fesse; in base a lion passant. Below the star a frosted scroll bearing the burnished unit title. The Arms of Guilford and the star are in white metal, the remainder in gilding metal.The slider fitting upon the reverse has been removed.Part of a badge collection. Date: circa 1914
